Seven Cities of Gold (1955)

Twentieth Century-Fox
Directed by Robert D. Webb
My rating: 1.5 stars out of 4
IMDb
(Fox Movie Channel)

Boring story of Spanish conquistadors marching across Mexico and the southwestern US, converting Indians to Christianity on the way. Anthony Quinn is wooden as the leader of the Army, Michael Rennie uninspiring as the padre and Richard Egan melodramatic as the louse who romances an Indian girl. These Indians speak perfect English and are easily persuaded to convert to Christianity by trinkets such as beads and a pair of scissors. There is no gold, no seven cities, just some mission bells.
