James Franciscus is in an automobile accident and has a metal plate put in his head. While recovering, he goes on vacation with his wife Lee Grant in a sleepy seaside California town. He wakes up in the middle of the night and sees the townspeople taken away in trucks, including his wife. The next day, nobody knows what he is talking about except a strange young girl. It turns out they are being used by aliens to repair a spaceship. He is immune to their telekinetic powers thanks to his metal plate. He falls in love with the girl, who is also an alien. Eventually they leave, taking Franciscus with them, apparently voluntarily, so he can be with the girl, although he leaves his "earthly body" behind. Interesting concept but suffers from too many TV movie cliches, particularly an egregious slow motion scene of the lovers running across a field into each others arms.
