An ailing grandmother tries to get her two young grand kids (and dog) to an uncle, but dies of a heart attack on the way. The kids take the dog and try to complete the journey alone. They encounter various obstacles along the way: a police chase, target practice on an Army base, a rattlesnake bite. Luckily, the kids have Lassie, and friend Scrappy, to come to the rescue. Innocuous, made-for-TV entertainment.
