This is all Mae West. She plays a maneating saloon singer with an insatiable appetite for diamonds. Her husband, the owner of the saloon, has to operate a counterfeiting ring to keep her happy. The mission next door is actually a front of government man Cary Grant, although he is just as interested in Mae personally as the counterfeiters. Mae's character has been imitated so many times it's hard to take any of this seriously. I did kind of like the saloon atmosphere of the 1890s, though.
