Disappointing portrayal of Lincoln's ascension from country bumpkin to president of the United States. Massey certainly has a physical resemblance to the famous tall man, but let's hope ole Abe had a little more personality. Massey's Lincoln seemed a little too simple minded, his speeches monotone and uninspiring. Lincoln's love life is presented as tragedy, losing his true love to an early death, he settles for a rich woman that brings only unhappiness. You have to wonder what in the world he saw in Mary Todd. The final scene shows Lincoln leaving Illinois by train for Washington, where he would eventually be assassinated, accompanied by "Glory, Glory Hallelujah", bathed in a messianic light. C'mon.
