A Sword Named Revenge (1981)

Directed by Li Jia
My rating: 1.5 stars out of 4
IMDb
(DVD, Rarescope/BCI Eclipse)

No one is who they appear to be in this confusing story of a son trying to unravel the mystery of his father's death. There are doubles, wax dummies, masks and voice disguises to twist the plot into a hopeless mess. I gave up trying to figure out what was actually going on and watched the sword and knife play. Unfortunately, even that consists of gravity-defying wire work, where people spend more energy doing flips, jumping to rooftops and flying through the air than actually fighting.
