Dreams Rewired (2015)

Icarus Films
Directed by Manu Luksch, Martin Reinhart and Thomas Tode
My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4
IMDb
(DVD, Icarus Films)

Dozens of clips from early films are re-arranged to highlight technology and how it has changed our lives. The earliest films feature telephones and phonographs, the latter impacting film itself with the advent of sound. Later, television becomes the new frontier. Animation, both new and old, helps explain things. The "technology" theme gets a bit murky at times, and this mostly feels like a history of early cinema, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Tilda Swinton narrates, but too often resorts to trying to be funny, which she is not.
