An insurance salesman in Tokyo runs into an old friend who is now a boxer. His girlfriend strikes up a friendship and he becomes insanely jealous. He begins to abuse his girlfriend leading her to begin an affair for real with the boxer. He starts training intensely for boxing in the same gym with the intention of confronting his friend in the ring. The bare plot outline only begins to tell the story of this intense, hyperactive film. Laced with graphic, bloody violence, a suffocating inner city atmosphere and propelled by a pounding soundtrack by Chu Ishikawa, it's another unforgettable work from maverick filmmaker Tsukamoto.
