Love Me Deadly (1973)

Directed by Jacques Lacerte
My rating: 3 stars out of 4
IMDb
(DVD, Shriek Show)

Mary Wilcox has got some serious issues. She hides them well, from her boyfriends to her eventual husband, nobody knows she is a necrophiliac. It all started when she was a little girl. She had a crush on her father, and after he was killed she snuggles up with him in his coffin. As an adult, she lives in a dream world, dressing up like a little girl and visiting her father's grave. She is sexually attracted to corpses and scans the want ads for funerals of young men. She meets up with a secret society of necrophiliacs late at night in funeral homes. The film works because of a superb performance by Wilcox, who is absolutely believable as both the perky young housewife and psychotic necro. The rare film that overcomes its low budget and dated kitsch to become somewhat of a classic of the genre.
