The Ballad of Josie (1967)

Universal Pictures
Directed by Andrew V. McLaglen
My rating: 1.5 stars out of 4
IMDb
(DVD, Universal Vault Series)

Innocuous western with Doris Day as an independent woman in Wyoming upsetting the local male population by taking up sheep farming. Stereotyped characters and cliched, predictable plot make this appear more like an episode of Bonanza than a big screen production. Doris shocks the men in town by daring to wear jeans. She tries to keep up with the men by drinking brandy, only to fall over drunk and cross-eyed. Painfully unfunny.
