Zigzag (1970)

MGM
Directed by Richard A. Colla
My rating: 3 stars out of 4
IMDb
(Turner Classic Movies)

Complex thriller with George Kennedy an insurance investigator diagnosed with a brain tumor. He cooks up a plan to frame himself for kidnapping and murder, with the reward money going to his widow. He collapses after a jury finds him guilty, and an operation cures him. However, he's still facing death by the electric chair. He escapes and must find the real killer. It's told in a very modern nonlinear narrative style. The only shortcomings may be the limited abilities of lead George Kennedy and Eli Wallach miscast as his lawyer. Otherwise, an overlooked gem.
