Peter Lorre is deliriously over-the-top in this entertaining yarn. The first hour or so is almost boring, but when the disembodied hand shows up the pace and tone take a change for the downright creepy. I love the scene where Lorre is nailing the hand to the desk. I did not, however, like the denouement, particularly the explanation for the hand.
