Ishtar (1987)

Columbia Pictures
Directed by Elaine May
My rating: BOMB
IMDb
(VHS, Columbia)
(Sony Movie Channel)

Dustin Hoffman and Warren Beatty are the world's worst singer-songwriters. Their agent sends them to Morocco, as much to get rid of them than anything else. They get involved with the CIA and revolutionaries. It's basically a one-joke premise extended to an entire movie. The songs are intentionally awful, but after about twenty of them it goes from amusing to interminable. Throw in a blind camel, Isabelle Adjani's breast, Charles Grodin and Hoffman speaking in fake Arabic, well, it could very well be in the running for all-time worst comedy.
