Walk Softly, Stranger (1950)

RKO Radio Pictures
Directed by Robert Stevenson
My rating: 2 stars out of 4
IMDb
(VHS, RKO)
(Turner Classic Movies)

Joseph Cotten is a gambler and thief who takes a new identity in a small town in an attempt to go legitimate. He talks his way into a boarding house and job at the local shoe factory. He wastes no time in seducing the boss's daughter, Alida Valli, who happens to be confined to a wheelchair after a skiing accident. His past eventually catches up with him. Familiar plot and too much melodrama in the romance with Valli.
