Haunted (1977)

Directed by Michael A. DeGaetano
My rating: 1.5 stars out of 4
IMDb
(DVD, Code Red)

Aldo Ray is a psycho killer on an old movie ranch in Arizona. When a pretty starlet heading for Hollywood gets stranded, he thinks she is the reincarnation of a local Indian girl. One of his teenaged sons falls in love with her, while the other one sits around listening to shortwave radio in his bedroom. His blind wife is played by Virginia Mayo, who has some gloriously demented dialogue. This is not a good movie by any means, but it has a high entertainment value. Maybe it's the old western set, maybe the occasional breaks for plaintive singer-songwriter music on acoustic guitar, maybe it's the phone booth in a cemetery, but probably it's the sight of a topless Indian girl riding horseback in the desert.
