A look inside a federal penitentiary at Lewisburg, PA, where some of the most violent criminals are kept. A guard shows us shanks, the warden walks the hallways where prisoners plead their case, a hearing officer listens to arguments about a plugged toilet and a team of very strong men in riot gear subdue uncooperative inmates in their cell. However, it is the interviews with the prisoners themselves that is most revelatory: each seems to have a justification or defense for their crime, no matter how heinous, and feel unjustly denied a chance to live in society.
