Ronald Colman plays a poetry-spouting vagabond in 15th century Paris. After accidentally killing  one of the king's traitors in a brawl, he is appointed constable for a week. He uses his new power to reward old friends and rally them to fight for the king against the occupying Burgundians. It also allows him to romance Frances Dee, one of the queen's ladies in waiting. Overlong, but ok for rainy day escapist entertainment.
