Too Late for Tears (1949)

United Artists
Directed by Byron Haskin
My rating: 3 stars out of 4
IMDb
(DVD, Image Entertainment)

Lizabeth Scott is a smart, beautiful blonde, but she also happens to be a cold-blooded killer. One day while out on a drive with her husband, a briefcase full of cash literally lands in their backseat. She wants to keep it, he wants to hand it over to the police, guess who wins that argument? The owner of the cash eventually shows up, and naturally he falls in love with her. However, he soon figures out that Lizabeth is not only using him, she's trying to kill him, but alas too late. She almost gets away with it all by escaping to Mexico, almost. One of those hidden noir gems you hope to stumble on but never do, well, here's your chance.
