George (1972)

Directed by Wallace C. Bennett
My rating: 1.5 stars out of 4
IMDb
(DVD, VCI Entertainment)

Bachelor pilot living in Switzerland takes care of giant St. Bernard dog for his sister. He is completely unprepared and a terrible dog owner: he does not have dog food, lets the dog out to roam the neighborhood, etc. His best friend is a pathetic womanizer, who tries to pick up every girl in the film with awkward, cliched lines, and spends his time at home reading girlie magazines. There are the predictable big-dog-causing-havoc scenes. Eventually he gets tired of it and gives the dog to some monks living at the top of a remote mountain. Dog escapes, man feels guilty and goes to rescue dog, the two get lost and have to be rescued themselves. Good for a few unintentional laughs.
