(DVD, Criterion Collection)

A manager in a Milan car factory takes a two-week vacation in Sicily with is wife and two kids. After the homecoming, he delivers a gift to a wealthy man from the factory boss. He does not realize that the man is actually part of the Sicilian mafia. He becomes indebted to him for a land deal, and within a few days is asked to repay the favor. He is literally mailed to New York in a crate to carry out a hit. Often hilarious, it also shrewdly lifts the veil that only superficially hides the violence lurking in its idyllic setting.
