Frank Sinatra basically plays himself, a struggling lounge singer who makes the big time when he is hired to sing in a high-class joint by Raymond Burr. However, to get the job Frank signs away his future, which comes back to haunt him when the relationship sours. Shelley Winters is another singer at the club and love interest, getting Frank involved in a melodramatic love triangle with his piano player.
