The Other Side of Midnight (1977)

Twentieth-Century Fox Film
Directed by Charles Jarrott
My rating: 1.5 stars out of 4
IMDb
(DVD, Fox)

Trashy soap opera about two women, one French and the other American, who fall for the same pilot during WWII. John Beck has the thankless role as the pilot, a despicable heel who leaves a trail of broken hearts, and unwanted pregnancies, during his tour of duty in Europe. Back home in America, Susan Sarandon falls for his same old schtick and eventually marries him. Meanwhile back in France his old flame keeps tabs on him while she becomes a famous actress. The two plot lines finally converge and she tries to steal him back from Sarandon, but I can't imagine why. This all leads to a possible murder, a sensational trial and ludicrous twist ending. Other than Marie-France Pisier's numerous nude scenes, there is absolutely no reason to watch this nearly 3-hour long monstrosity.
