The Scarlet Clue (1945)

Monogram Pictures
Directed by Phil Rosen
My rating: 2 stars out of 4
IMDb
(DVD, MGM)

This Charlie Chan entry zips right along and is filled with interesting gadgets and situations. A radio and television studio is the setting for the mystery. An upstairs laboratory contains a new radar system and a foreign enemy wants the plans. People are killed by inhaling cigarettes or falling through a trap floor in the elevator. The killer communicates with their accomplices by a wireless teletype machine. Mantan Moreland and Benson Fong provide comedy relief, including some politically incorrect jokes at Moreland's expense.
