Overly familiar, predictable story of retired gunslinger returning to his home town, facing scorn and distrust, but when the bad guys show up to rob the bank the townsfolk turn to him and his gun to stop them. Audie Murphy had perfected has down-home persona by this point and sleepwalks through the role, except during the fight scenes when his obvious stunt double takes over. Character actor Ted de Corsia shines over the entire cast as Spangler, the spirited head of the outlaw gang.
