The Take (1974)

Columbia Pictures
Directed by Robert Hartford-Davis
My rating: 2 stars out of 4
IMDb
(DVD, Sony Screen Classics by Request)

Bland story of San Francisco cop who transfers to New Mexico in order to root out mob activity. The characters are underdeveloped and the story confusing. Is Billy Dee Williams on "the take" or not? Even this basic question is left unanswered. There are some car chases, but you really don't care since none of the characters make sense. Vic Morrow is miscast as the gangster who prefers to sit on his patio and look at the mountains. On the plus side, there are plenty of leisure suits on display which will have you shaking your head in amazement at seventies fashion sense.
