Island of Desire (1952)

IMDb
(DVD, VCI Entertainment)

Marine Tab Hunter and nurse Linda Darnell are stranded on a deserted island after their ship sinks in the Pacific. Tab uses his Marine survival skills to find food, build shelter and basically keep them alive. Darnell, who is much older but beautiful, gradually warms up to the idea of being stranded with a young hunk on a deserted island. Their idyllic life is interrupted when a British officer crash lands on the island. She nurses him to health, but he falls in love with her as well. Tab is a bit too juvenile and very, very annoying, but then again he may be playing the character as it is written. It does bring up some interesting existential questions about love, but that may be giving it too much credit.

  1. This film's saving grace was watching Linda Darnell in those beach scenes! Wow, is she gorgeous!
